Our client is seeking a high-performing business development leader to drive their M&A deal flow within the Financial Services industry. This hunting-focused position centers on discovering and vetting acquisition prospects, establishing relationships with business owners and founders, and creating opportunities for institutional acquirers. Key Responsibilities
- Build rapport with owners and C-level executives; shepherd them through initial discussions with a consultative, non-aggressive approach.
- Execute strategic, high-touch prospecting campaigns targeting private businesses across various industries to generate qualified deal flow.
- Monitor pipeline metrics, activity levels, and conversion rates; provide weekly performance summaries.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends, valuation movements, and transaction landscapes.
- Conduct initial qualification conversations: evaluate financial health, ownership structure, transaction motivations, and deal readiness.
- Evaluate prospects based on revenue thresholds, profit margins, growth trajectory, and strategic alignment. Maintain accurate CRM records.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration and clear communication throughout the organization.
- Represent buyer interest with professionalism and facilitate seamless transitions to transaction teams.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Proficient with modern CRMs (Salesforce/HubSpot or similar)
- 5+ years of B2B sales experience with demonstrated quota achievement.
- Self-motivated, responsible, and productive in a remote work environment.
- Strong executive presence and communication skills; comfortable interfacing with owners and senior leaders.
- Understanding of basic financial statements and key business performance indicators.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business/Finance/Economics (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- Sound business judgment. Able to quickly grasp diverse industries and operating models.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or other advanced business degree.
- Prior experience in financial services sectors (such as wealth management, commercial lending, or advisory services).
- Willingness to obtain relevant securities licenses (e.g., Series 79/63) as role responsibilities may require.
- Experience analyzing financials with business owners (profit and loss statements, balance sheet fundamentals).
- Familiarity with M&A/corporate finance or business valuation principles.
- Proven success in fast-paced or entrepreneurial settings.
