Full Job DescriptionThe Director of User Experience Design will lead the creation of innovative digital products that impact millions of customers across web and mobile platforms. This role requires a dynamic leader with strong expertise in design, communication, and people management. The ideal candidate will have a deep customer obsession, extensive experience in product design, and a proven track record of leading cross-functional teams. A strong background in financial services and exposure to systems design and technology is essential.Location: This role is hybrid. The candidate should be located within a commutable distance to one of the offices in NYC, Baltimore, MD, Charlotte, NC, Wilmington, DE, or Irving, TX.Director of User Experience Design Responsibilities: - Lead and mentor cross-functional teams to deliver user-centered, high-quality designs.- Collaborate closely with marketing and communications teams to acquire customer relationships and improve business processes.- Shape cohesive user journeys across a product family, guiding the design team in developing rapid visual concepts and high-fidelity designs.- Promote iteration and innovation as key tools for developing impactful, customer-centered solutions.- Set and maintain a high standard of excellence for user-centered design, championing the design system for consistency and scalability.- Work cross-functionally with Product, Design, Engineering, UX Research, and other teams to implement best-in-class processes.- Cultivate a culture of connection and belonging through team celebrations, craft showcases, and all-hands meetings.- Manage account management and growth, supporting mobile-first design.- Engage in prototyping, storytelling, and presenting a strong executive presence.- Balance strategic impact with hands-on work, maintaining a player-coach mentality.- Consider AI advancements and their integration into design processes.Director of User Experience Design Requirements: - Minimum 10 years of experience in Product Design or related fields, working collaboratively with product, engineering, design, content, and user research teams; Financial Services experience required. - Minimum 6 years of leadership experience with direct reports, including hiring and developing senior managers and individual contributors.- A Bachelors degree in Product Design, Interaction Design, Fine Arts, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.- Expert proficiency with Figma, Miro, usertesting.com, Dovetail, and other relevant domain software.- Strong portfolio showcasing a range of projects demonstrating design process, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.- Strong team management and team-building skills, with experience leading and mentoring leads and individual contributors.- Strong systems thinker with experience defining patterns, style guides, performing user testing, and building low and high-fidelity prototypes.- Solid understanding of software development and collaboration with developers.- Self-starter with exceptional time management and organizational skills, with laser-sharp attention to detail and accuracy.- Superior communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders across the organization.In this position, you may have access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data, including financial information.
