Skies Above Media (SAM), an independent Outdoor Advertising (OOH) operator based in Culver City, is seeking a Controller to work alongside the Leadership team to ensure the finance side of our business runs smoothly. Established in 1989 by Richard Mahlmann with just one billboard in Fresno, SAM now has nearly 75 OOH placements across Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Detroit but remains a small business with an emphasis on quality locations.

Primary Responsibilities:
Company Financial health
- Collaborate on financial strategies for sustainable and profitable growth
- Manage risk and debt.
- Manage inter business finances between SAM and associated companies within the SAM portfolio including biweekly cash flow analysis and reporting.
- Ensure proper financial reporting that aligns with governmental regulations, ethics, and tax purposes.
- Provide financial reporting to tax accountants
Assets & Development
- Work with CEO and COO to create Pro formas and cash flow analysis to help evaluate potential acquisitions or new assets.
Contracting
- Collaborate with sales team to review contracts from clients and enter the contracts into Quickbooks.
- Prepare W9 and new business forms when necessary for new clients.
- Prepare our own contracts to send clients when necessary
External Reporting & Communication
- Prepare ongoing Biweekly/Monthly statements reports necessary for shareholders, external partners & property owners
- Prepare Annual and Biannual Revenue Share true ups for property owners as necessary
- Prepare monthly reporting for external investors when necessary.
AR:
- Collaborate with Operations team to ensure all Proof of performance documents and paperwork are complete.
- Prepare and send monthly invoices to clients.
- Monitor aging reports, work with clients to seek payment within a reasonable time frame.
- Monitor Quickbooks Transactions and bank accounts for account receivable payments.
AP:
- Collect, review vendor/3 rd party invoices and enter into AP invoices and revenue share Quickbooks, tagging each invoice to the appropriate project.
- Maintain good standing and communication with external/3 rd party partners.
- Connect AR to AP in instances of sequential payments and operations related contracts.
- Collect annual 1099 forms from 3 rd party and external vendors.
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts at each month end including expenses
- Bi monthly Company Payroll of salaried employees
- Monitor P&L reporting via excel and/or Quickbooks
- Manage commissions reporting
Primary Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Excel, Quickbooks, and familiarity with Fathom and Keeper
- Must have a proven track record of success as a team member in a strong and innovative Finance organization in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be a well-organized, leadership-oriented professional who makes things happen and who has a strong orientation to quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Must be entrepreneurial and detail-oriented; willing to roll up his/her sleeves and is hands-on.
- Must have an analytical mind, experienced in assessing business performance and opportunities, as well as to evaluate problems and develop solutions.
- Must be a polished and dynamic team player, an open, willing communicator who doesn’t shy away from challenging issues.
- Effective communication is an important ingredient to success in this position.

Experience, Education, & Licensure:
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of finance/ accounting experience in the hospitality industry, preferably in a complex operations environment.
- An undergraduate degree in accounting or related field is preferred.
