Summary
GeneDx is growing its Data Operations team to advance how we explore, validate, and scale the use of clinical, billing, and operational data across the company. We’re looking for a Healthcare Data Analyst to lead high-impact analytical investigations, support early product discovery, and identify scalable opportunities to improve how we serve patients and partners.
In this role, you’ll analyze and construct datasets, dashboards, and other tools to uncover meaningful insights that shape how we deliver genetic testing at scale. You’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, and operational teams to frame hypotheses, simulate workflows, assess feasibility, and validate early ideas. Your strong understanding of how healthcare data flows through complex systems will help guide better product decisions, surface areas for improvement, and support scalable, data-informed innovation.
This is a senior individual contributor role that requires strong technical data skills, healthcare data fluency, and a bias toward action. You’ll also play a key part in mentoring peers, documenting findings, and shaping how we integrate data insights into the product development lifecycle.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead structured, hypothesis-driven investigations using real-world healthcare data to support product validation and business decision-making
- Translate ambiguous or complex problems into clear analytical questions, and execute the end-to-end analysis
- Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering teams to test assumptions, simulate workflows, and support early-stage design
- Identify patterns or edge cases that highlight opportunities for system or workflow improvement
- Prototype or write lightweight scripts/queries to simulate or evaluate proposed data flows
- Summarize findings in a way that influences product direction, system requirements, or stakeholder decisions
- Contribute to data documentation, standardization efforts, and onboarding new team members
Education, Experience, and Skills
- 5+ years of experience working with healthcare-related datasets (e.g., EMR/EHR, lab, claims, encounter data)
- Strong SQL skills, with experience in data exploration, root cause analysis, and workflow simulation
- Familiarity with healthcare data standards and formats such as HL7, FHIR, ICD, CPT, LOINC, etc.
- Track record of working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, or Operations teams to support delivery or innovation
- Comfort navigating ambiguity, structuring loosely defined problems, and prioritizing impact
- Strong documentation and communication skills — able to clearly explain complex data behavior to technical and non-technical audiences
Preferred:
- Experience with Python for scripting, workflow automation, or data validation
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake, GCP)
- Exposure to APIs and third-party data integrations (e.g., Redox, Particle Health)
- Experience with data transformation or exploration tools (e.g., dbt, Jupyter, Looker)
- Background in health informatics, life sciences, or technical roles in healthcare
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
