WSP is currently initiating a search for a Manager of Tax Accounting for our New York City, New York office. Reporting to the Vice President, Director of Tax, the holder will be responsible for the following tasks:

Your Impact

  • Manage staff and outside consultants in the preparation of the company’s US annual tax provision (including true-up and 10-month hard close) under IFRS;

  • Calculate the annual Effective Tax Rate to be used in monthly and quarterly financial statements. Prepare monthly and quarterly Hyperion tax reporting schedules.

  • Work closely with Global tax team located in Montreal, Canada for provision consolidation purposes and to communicate tax accounting treatment of US related items.

  • Liaise with US accounting team to understand established processes and procedures and monitor changes in accounting for related tax accounting impacts.

  • Communicate with external auditors on the year-end tax provision calculation and related disclosures;

  • Prepare forecasts of income tax expense, cash taxes and effective income tax rates to support internal and external reporting functions;

  • Reconcile and analyze tax general ledger accounts;

  • Monitor legislative developments relevant to accounting and tax;

  • Document treatment of significant tax accounting matters, tax related internal controls and accounting policies and procedures

  • Identify areas for process improvements

  • Assist in the review of Federal/State & Local income tax returns;

  • Involvement in various special projects (i.e. Acquisitions, income tax audits, and Cross-border tax matters).

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent;

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in a large corporate environment, or from a firm with relevant experience;

  • Hold a recognized accounting designation (CA, CPA);

  • Proficiency with MS Office, (specifically Excel), knowledge of OneSource, knowledge of Hyperion (an asset);

  • Strong writing and communication skills

  • Ability to work in a constantly evolving environment;

  • Have the desire to improve technically;

  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision, the candidate possesses an excellent sense of responsibility and keen attention to detail

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters in Taxation, an asset;

  • IFRS experience, an asset

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $106,300.00 - $189,310.00

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
