Description
A busy healthcare company in Oceanside, CA is seeking a Medical Collections Specialist to join their team. In this role, you will play a critical part in managing accounts receivable, pursuing aged balances, and ensuring smooth collections processes with patients and payers.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and pursue outstanding patient balances from private and commercial insurers.
Prepare collection reports and perform follow-ups on delinquent accounts to ensure resolution.
Work with patients to resolve billing discrepancies and establish payment plans as needed.
Negotiate with insurance providers to maximize reimbursements and correct claims issues.
Ensure compliance with healthcare collection policies and HIPAA requirements.
Generate periodic reports on account statuses for management review.
Collaborate with billing and administrative teams to optimize the collections workflow.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
2–4 years of experience in medical collections or healthcare accounts receivable.
Proficiency in electronic medical records and billing systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner).
Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, reimbursement systems, and collection practices.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills to handle sensitive billing inquiries.
