Job Title: Substation P&C Project Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Substation Protection & Controls (P&C) Engineer. This role involves taking responsibility for the technical aspects and deliverables of assigned projects. The engineer is expected to handle all technical requirements for projects of basic to moderate complexity with competence and expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed design packages for greenfield and brownfield substations.

  • Scope project assignments, provide technical write-ups, and estimate man-hours for future opportunities.

  • Complete engineering calculation reports, including load flow, short circuit, grounding, and arc flash studies.

  • Perform cable, raceway, and equipment sizing calculations.

  • Provide cable and conduit schedules and routing drawings.

  • Develop input and output (I/O) lists.

  • Provide testing and commissioning plans.

  • Review engineering work deliverables following QA/QC procedures.

  • Manage projects and tasks, providing status updates as needed.

    Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of Substation Protection & Controls Engineering experience.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office.

  • Experience in substation engineering and design.

  • Familiarity with ETAP, wiring diagram, power delivery, and power design.

  • Ability to lead a team and possess project engineering skills.

  • Experience with electrical systems, SCADA, Siemens, GE, ABB, and relay technologies.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) preferred or actively pursuing PE.

  • 5+ years of Power Delivery Substation design experience.

  • Experience and client relationships in Florida/Southeast preferred.

  • Client management, marketing, and business development skills preferred.

  • Previous experience managing staff, clients, contracts, and hiring staff for an engineering consulting firm preferred.

  • Experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired.

  • Ability to travel is required.

  • Track record of working cooperatively with diverse teams and project staff.

  • Commitment to quality, improvement, and company values.

  • Active participation in an employee-owned culture is a must.

    Work Environment

The position is located in a beautiful office building in the heart of downtown Orlando, across the street from Lake Eola, with included parking available at any time. The office is surrounded by various food and entertainment options within walking distance. There are plenty of growth opportunities companywide in a large, employee-owned firm, recognized as the largest employee-owned architecture and engineering firm.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orlando, Florida. Can sit in Tampa, FL or Doral, FL offices as well

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $52.88/hr.
