Compensation and Schedule for the Surgery Procedure Scheduler/Medical Assistant
Surgery Procedure Scheduler/Medical Assistant – Full-time, onsite, $21-$24 per hour, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Join a healthy team with great benefits!
Required Qualifications of the Surgery Procedure Scheduler/Medical Assistant
1+ years of recent surgery/procedure scheduling experience required
1+ years of recent medical assistant experience required
Medical Assistant diploma or certification required
High school diploma or GED required
Must successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screen
Job Summary for the Surgery Procedure Scheduler/Medical Assistant
Coordinate the schedules of physicians, operating rooms, anesthesiologists, equipment, lab work, and any other required items/staff in accordance with a physician's recommendation for patient care. Act as a liaison between the patient, provider/referring physician, primary care physician, and other parties involved in the surgery/procedure to include distribution of pre- and post-operative information to the patient. Gather and record financial and insurance information and ensure authorizations are obtained prior to the procedure/surgery.
Responsibilities of the Surgery Procedure Scheduler/Medical Assistant
Assist with obtaining vital signs and patient history
Document chief complaint and all actions taken
Alert physician of problems, concerns, and abnormalities
Assist physicians, residents, and licensed nursing personnel
Set up exam/procedure rooms including instruments for minor procedures
Perform simple patient procedures
Prepare and administer medications (excluding IV) under direct supervision of a physician
Obtain lab specimen and fill out requisitions completely and accurately
Coordinate the workflow of MAs when necessary
Obtain authorization for referrals
Conduct front desk duties such as registration, check-in, and scheduling of patients
