We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Surgical Retina Specialist to join our dynamic ophthalmology team. The successful candidate will provide advanced medical and surgical care for patients with retinal and vitreoretinal diseases, contribute to academic and research initiatives, and support the department’s mission of excellence in clinical care, education, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage retinal diseases including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, uveitis, and inherited retinal disorders.

  • Perform surgical procedures such as vitrectomy, scleral buckling, and intraocular injections.

  • Interpret diagnostic imaging (OCT, fluorescein angiography, B-scan ultrasound).

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.

  • Participate in resident and fellow education, including surgical training and didactic instruction.

  • Engage in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system.

Qualifications

  • MD degree from an accredited institution.

  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited ophthalmology residency.

  • Fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery.

  • Board certification or eligibility in Ophthalmology.

  • Eligible for medical licensure in Georgia

  • Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, teaching, and scholarly activity.
