About the role
Responsible for servicing customers during initial application review and pending process, as well as assessment for new hires and policy change requests. Requires strong knowledge of voluntary product offerings which includes calculating rates and benefit system discrepancies, additional rider benefit, state variances and coverage qualification per individual and dependents. High level of customer service to agents, brokers, applicants and internal teams is required.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Order prescription records, Medical Information Bureau (MIB) reports and claim history based on underwriting guidelines and offer available to applicants.
Create pending correspondence which includes medical questionnaires, authorizations, amendments and adverse notifications to applicants.
Update system to include appropriate agent and commission info that is applicable by state and group.
Assemble and mail modified or special handling certificates/policies to group or customers
Process paper and system rejected applications for all products offered to initiate billing and coverage.
Effectively utilize case setup, group offer and state regulation for complete manual entry of applications to make appropriate determination if the applications need underwriting escalation.
Research and solve rate errors, setup errors and agent misquotes on applications prior to completion within the goal date.
Respond to customer calls and emails by demonstrating tact and sound judgment in all interactions for both internal and external customers.
Processing customer requests and inquiries on pending and declined applications.
Complete medical questionnaires, amendments and state authorizations over the phone in an effort to fulfill underwriting requirements by phone, email or fax.
Modify and run SQL reports on existing cases for policy statuses as requested by Implementation.
Assist and participate when needed as a business participant for our department on enhancements, production issues, or new product projects.

Minimum Requirements
Minimum of one year data entry/clerical experience required.
High School graduate or equivalent.
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products
Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with internal/external customers, team members and leadership in a clear and professional manner
Keen attention to detail including accuracy, thoroughness and consistency.
Ability to shift priorities and focus on new tasks or challenges as needed to ensure departmental goals are achieved
Ability and willingness to deliver on promises made to all customer including timely and complete responses to all inquiries

The compensation range for this role is (based on the corporate location in Lake Forest, Illinois):
$21.46 - $35.77 per year
The final salary offer will be determined based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, skill set, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for bonus.
