Developer Advocate, Cloud Observability

With a focus on developer observability, monitoring, and debugging for cloud-native environments, you will have the opportunity to work with key leaders across the industry, and broaden your impact to the cloud native community at large. This is a unique opportunity to use both your engineering and creative storytelling skills to shape the landscape in cloud observability and monitoring.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Create content in one or more modes to build Datadog’s reputation as a leader in DevOps, Monitoring, Observability and Security e.g. building demos, public speaking, blogging, documentation, webinars, open source, video tutorials,and more
  • Partner with product engineering teams to build compelling demos, and coach internal engineering teams on effective communication and presentation
  • Support product-led growth by simplifying adoption and highlighting value for individual developers, small companies and startups
  • Interface with open source communities and engage directly with developers through platforms like GitHub, Slack, Reddit, Discord, and Stack Overflow
  • Represent Datadog at developer-focused conferences, hackathons, and meetups
  • Contribute to the product through feedback (bugs or product enhancements suggestions), documentation, or code

 

Who You Are:

  • Approximately 5+ years of experience as a software developer, SRE, or other practitioner, with strong experience in cloud-native development, observability, and debugging. Specific experience with Distributed Tracing, Error Tracking, Metrics, and Logs is highly relevant.
  • Approximately 3+ years of experience in storytelling and creating compelling content e.g. written content, conference talks, leading workshops, live streaming or recording videos, contributing to open source, and participating in community events, meetups, and hackathons
  • You have publicly available writing samples, blog posts, demos, or recordings of presentations on technical topics
  • You are comfortable with at least 2 programming languages (eg Node.js, Python, Go, bash) and are familiar with modern infrastructure such as IaaS cloud services and containers
  • You enjoy self driven exploration and education on new technologies and languages

 

Bonus points:

  • Experience with AI-powered IDEs like Cursor or Windsurf and familiarity with “vibe coding” platforms
  • Understanding of LLM Observability and its application in development workflows
  • Experience working with product teams on product-led adoption in smaller companies and startups
  • You are already an active member of any developer communities in your region
