About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Business Systems Analyst (BSA) with a passion for technology, finance, and process improvement.

You’ll partner with Finance, Tax, Product, and Engineering to strengthen our billing, payments, and global compliance capabilities. You’ll lead projects that improve workflows, integrate systems, and drive operational excellence—ensuring a great customer experience and compliance with global regulations.

This role is both strategic and hands-on, giving you the opportunity to shape how HubSpot’s global revenue operations run.

Key Responsibilities

System Ownership & Optimization

  • Serve as subject matter expert for billing/payment platforms (e.g., Stripe, Adyen, Recurly), tax/compliance tools (e.g., Avalara, Avatax, Sovos), and ERP (NetSuite preferred).
  • Configure, monitor, and optimize financial systems for performance, reliability, and compliance.

Process Improvement & Automation

  • Champion automation of tax, billing, and financial workflows in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
  • Identify pain points and design scalable solutions that improve speed, accuracy, and customer experience.

Integration & Collaboration

  • Translate business and regulatory needs into clear, actionable requirements for technical teams.
  • Lead integrations, enhancements, and feature rollouts; oversee UAT and training.
  • Maintain seamless data flow between systems and ensure data integrity across customer, tax, and subsidiary records.

Issue Resolution & Insights

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across payment, tax, compliance, and fraud prevention systems.
  • Surface insights from operational, billing, and compliance data to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and continuously improve core systems covering both global billing and enablement processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Tax, Finance, Product) to deliver scalable solutions.
  • Lead business requirements gathering, functional documentation, and workflow mapping for billing/payments and global tax engines.
  • Guide system integration projects, performing user acceptance testing and training for stakeholders as needed.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues spanning payment, tax, and compliance systems—identifying root causes and implementing improvements.
  • Facilitate data-driven decision making by surfacing insights from key operational, billing, and compliance data.
  • Proactively communicate status, risks, and solutions to technical and non-technical audiences.

What We’re Looking For

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous, or rapidly changing environments.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills—able to translate business needs into technical solutions and vice versa.
  • Customer- and process-obsessed; relentless about efficiency, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Strong sense of ownership, resourcefulness, bias-to-action, and attention to detail.
  • Passion for solving complex systems challenges in global enablement, billing, payments, or compliance domains.
  • Technical skills in SQL, data analysis tools, and understanding of APIs/integrations; comfortable learning new software.
  • Experience supporting or administering enterprise SaaS, ERP, payment, or tax platforms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Finance, or related field.
  • 3–5+ years as a Business Systems Analyst, including hands-on experience with both billing/payments platforms and global tax/compliance solutions.
  • Experience configuring, implementing, and managing third-party payment engines (Stripe, Adyen, Recurly) and tax engines (Avalara, Avatax, Sovos).
  • Solid understanding of the quote-to-cash lifecycle, tax compliance, general ledger impacts, and ERP (NetSuite preferred).
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills; advanced proficiency with SQL, Looker, or similar tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; proficiency in documentation and process mapping.
  • Adaptability, proactive mindset, and empathy for both customers and internal users.
  • Proficiency in Workato or comparable automation platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Subscription management platform experience.
  • Experience navigating ambiguous, evolving requirements or regulatory changes.
  • Strong technical acumen; familiarity with APIs and system integrations.
  • Advanced troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and cross-functional project management skills.
