We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a VP of Environmental Health, Safety, and Sustainability within our Business Support Services team to help support our business. As a VP – EHS&S you will have the opportunity to lead the company’s global strategy to ensure a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible workplace. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by developing and driving initiatives that align with the company’s commitment to sustainability and compliance, while also fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
So, what will you be doing as a VP – EHS&S?
Develop and implement a comprehensive EHS&S strategy that aligns with Leggett & Platt’s corporate goals and sustainability objectives
Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and international environmental, health, and safety regulations, keeping up to date with changes that may impact the organization
Identify, assess, and mitigate potential EHS&S risks across all operations, implementing proactive measures to protect employees, the environment, and company assets
Champion sustainability initiatives by integrating relevant practices into business operations, supply chains, and product development
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and report on EHS&S performance, driving continuous improvement and accountability
Collaborate with executive leadership team, operations team, and external stakeholders to promote a culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainability
Provide leadership and mentorship to the EHS&S team, ensuring development of talent and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation
Represent the company with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and the broader community on EHS&S matters
Forecast and manage operational budgets, forecasting financial needs, and ensuring cost-effectiveness
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred
Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in EHS&S roles within a manufacturing environment
In-depth knowledge of EHS&S regulations and best practices, with a proven track record of developing and implementing successful and sustainable programs
Proven history of building strong relationships and influencing stakeholders at every level of an organization
Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Collaborative and customer-service oriented
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including presentation skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment
Hands-on, working leader who aligns with the Company culture, values, and strategic priorities
Strong MS Excel skills and ability to execute a data-driven approach
Demonstrated commitment to ethical conduct, environmental stewardship, and employee safety
Ability to travel up to 30-50% including international
