Job Description
The Distribution Lead oversees daily package handling operations on a first-shift schedule, ensuring efficient, accurate, and safe movement of goods. This role leads a team of package handlers, coordinates shipping and receiving activities, and maintains high standards of performance, communication, and workplace safety in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate daily package handling operations to ensure timely and accurate shipping, receiving, and order fulfillment.
Lead and support a team of package handlers, providing clear direction, coaching, and regular performance feedback.
Implement and follow operational procedures to optimize workflow, efficiency, and safety throughout the distribution area.
Monitor individual and team performance, identify areas for improvement, and take proactive steps to resolve issues.
Oversee shipping and receiving processes, including verifying incoming and outgoing shipments and ensuring proper documentation.
Coordinate and perform order picking activities, using RF scanners and related tools to ensure accurate order selection.
Manage packaging and loading activities to ensure products are prepared, packed, and loaded correctly for transport.
Use ERP systems and inventory control processes to track, update, and reconcile inventory levels.
Operate or oversee the operation of forklifts and other material handling equipment in a safe and compliant manner.
Ensure proper use of automated conveyor belts and manual rollers, promptly addressing any operational issues.
Apply knowledge of postal codes, routing charts, and maps to optimize routing and delivery efficiency.
Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that emphasizes safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to coordinate schedules, resolve problems, and meet service expectations.
Support adherence to all safety guidelines and operational standards within the distribution facility.
Essential Skills
Proven experience in shipping and receiving operations.
Hands-on experience with order picking and packaging processes.
Proficiency using RF scanners for picking, inventory, and tracking tasks.
Practical knowledge of inventory control procedures.
Experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment.
Ability to work confidently with ERP systems for order and inventory management.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
Knowledge of postal codes, routing charts, and maps for efficient routing and distribution.
Comfort working with automated conveyor belts and manual rollers.
Demonstrated ability to follow and enforce operational procedures and safety guidelines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Leadership or supervisory experience in a distribution, warehouse, or logistics environment is a plus.
Experience with loading and unloading trucks in a distribution or warehouse setting.
Background in inventory management, including cycle counts and stock reconciliation.
Ability to troubleshoot basic issues with scanning equipment and conveyor systems.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in orders and inventory records.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to motivate and support team members.

Work Environment
This role operates in a distribution and warehouse setting on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The work involves frequent movement throughout the facility, working around automated conveyor belts, manual rollers, forklifts, and other material handling equipment. Team members regularly handle packages, perform picking, packing, loading, and inventory tasks, and use RF scanners and ERP systems to manage orders and stock. The environment is fast-paced and time-sensitive, requiring focus on safety, accuracy, and efficiency throughout the shift. Appropriate work attire suitable for an active warehouse environment is expected.

This is a Contract position based out of Atlanta, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.50/hr.
