We are seeking an Academic Advisor at our Silicon Valley location. This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment. You will support the department by providing quality academic advising, counseling, and student life assistance to M.S. students in ECE’s Software Engineering program. This position is vital to the development and support of ECE’s Silicon Valley program and students.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor student progress to ensure timely graduation and certify students each semester.
- Serve as the primary contact for the HUB/University Registrar’s Office regarding student records, course schedules, and registration processes.
- Provide students with information on department, campus, and university requirements, policies, and resources.
- Develop and deliver an introductory course for new students each fall and spring.
- Coordinate with faculty advisors to support student success.
- Collaborate with the Office of International Education to address international student issues and immigration requests.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university meetings to stay informed and share best practices.
- Track movement of MS students transferring between locations to ensure accurate billing and advising.
- Maintain and update departmental web pages and resources.
- Contribute to reports on enrollment, admissions, and other metrics for internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in recruitment, orientation, student sessions, and alumni outreach events.
- Assist in planning and participating in ECE’s diploma ceremonies in Pittsburgh each May.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- At least one year of academic advising experience preferred
- Relevant education and experience demonstrating comparable knowledge may be considered
