JOB DESCRIPTION
The Director Actuarial has an advanced knowledge of the business and serves as primary reviewer of all work. The Director also has oversight responsibility, outlining work and tasks, serving as support, recommending process improvements, and assessing adequacy of work. Experienced FSA with deep subject matter expertise, accountable for managing a team and supporting pricing, product, valuation, modeling, or risk/finance functions within a business area. Acts as a mentor/coach to Actuary Students and Actuary.

Responsibilities :
• Supports a specialization function within a business area
• Responsible for process quality, deliverables, efficiencies, timing, and overall team management
• Key contributor to strategic business area decisions Valuation:
• Assist in the production of stochastically modeled reserves.
• Capital reporting and analysis.
• Source of earnings analysis.
• Forecasting of statutory net income required capital.
• Provide actuarial support to both Marketing and Administrative areas.
• Lead/participate in ad hoc projects as necessary (e.g. innovation, tax, infrastructure, etc.)
• Understand department deliverables and organize own work to achieve results
• Understand implications of results and recommend next steps
• Consider cause and effect relationships, i.e. the impact of changes in different variables on the end results.
• Apply intuition regarding expected results of model and hypothesize causes when results are unexpected
• Drive significant changes to improvement within the department by obtaining key management buy in
• Proactively shares new ideas, best practices, and expertise with peers, members of department, and management.
• Leads major projects within department. May actively participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives within BU or Division.
• Welcomes diverse perspectives to ensure that the best solution is reached. Leverages unique talents of others.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum 5 years’ experience preferred
• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries or equivalent
• Team player and self-starter
• High energy and drive, results oriented
• Developing strong analytical and problem-solving skills, emerging ability to think “outside the box”

• Technical Abilities/Actuarial Financial & Risk Management Decision Authorities:
• Development of staff within the area of (through coaching and mentoring)
• Accountable for the management of projects (start to finish) and for the accuracy of work produced by other actuarial teams.
• Autonomy to assign and reassign resources as need be on projects Influences business decisions through sound actuarial financial analysis and advisory aspect to senior leaders
• Performs complex financial analysis without guidance of leader or others Working Conditions:
