Job Description Summary:
Provides government relations support at the local and state level. Assists with monitoring legislative activity that impacts OhioHealth, our patients and the communities we serve. Effectively engages internal and external stakeholders through relationship development and participation in community organizations.
Advocacy
Attends statehouse committee meetings and legislative interested party meetings and reports out on legislative and administrative activities.
Creates and updates a state legislative and regulatory tracker.
Creates and updates a federal legislative and regulatory tracker.
Maintain and update government relations website.
Responsible for developing an annual care site visit plan for key local, state and federal elected officials.
Create agendas and author preparatory materials before site visits.
Relationship Development
Cultivate relationships with local municipalities and serve as a liaison between external affairs and local elected officials (i.e. mayors, city council members, county commissioners).
Identify and activate community sponsorship opportunities for the central region OhioHealth care sites.
Represent external affairs on local chambers and rotaries.
Represent external affairs in hospital leadership meetings as needed.
Project-Based Initiatives
Provide project management support for government relations team.
Identify opportunities for OhioHealth Speakers Bureau in the central region.
Coordinate and staff Get Out To Vote (GOTV) initiatives in advance of general and primary elections.
Responsibilities And Duties:
50% - Advocacy and Relationship managementDevelop and maintain relationships with local elected officials and community partners in the central region.
Represent OhioHealth and build relationships through engagement with community organizations i.e. rotary, chamber, etc. in identified communities.
Proactively assess new opportunities for engagement and provide appropriate connections and resources to support those initiatives.
Manage relationships with nonprofit partners in the central region.
25% - Special ProjectsIdentify opportunities for OhioHealth in the central region, i.e. proactively determine opportunities for the OhioHealth Speakers Bureau, associate volunteerism, boards, commissions, community advisory groups.
Assist with government relations initiatives including, but not limited to, Get Out to Vote Campaigns.
25% - Marketing and communicationPrepare presentations and talking points for hospital leadership, Speaker Bureau experts, etc.
Develop and maintain a master contact list of community and governmental partners in the central region
Responsible for maintaining government legislative and regulatory trackers.
Maintain and update government relations website.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree (Required)

Previous experience in healthcare and database management, word processing, Excel. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience presenting to external and internal audiences. Experience in government relations, community relations, community outreach, marketing, communications, planning, patient relations, or public health.
