Carmel Partners, one of the nation’s leading specialists in real estate investment management, with expertise in the investment, development, and construction of multi-family real estate, is seeking an Analyst, Data Science and Research in our San Francisco Office.
The Analyst, Data Science and Research will be an integral member of the Data Science & Research team supporting the company’s investment strategy and advanced analytics efforts. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and implementation of a value-added, data-centric investment framework, leveraging techniques spanning machine learning, spatial analytics, and causal modeling, while capitalizing on new opportunities being enabled by recent advances in large language models (LLMs). Additionally, you will conduct research & development to explore and implement innovative analytical technologies and methodologies.

What you’ll do
- Contribute to the development and deployment of advanced, predictive analytics real estate models, including rent growth and asset valuation at the market and neighborhood level
- Evaluate and leverage potentially innovative datasets that can strengthen the company’s proprietary modeling frameworks
- Conduct Research & Development efforts to derive concrete value from new analytical technologies (including causal ML, generative AI, and advanced GIS tools) and new alternative datasets
- Leverage cloud computing frameworks to develop and deploy algorithms that scale efficiently and deliver value-added insights for real-time investment decisions
- Conduct advanced geospatial analytics and translate granular results into actionable visualizations via interactive mapping frameworks to help shape the company’s investment strategy

What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, Computer Science, Applied Math, or a related quantitative discipline
- Experience in conducting applied data analytics at the enterprise level (1-2 years)
- Excellent proficiency in the core data science stack, including functional combinations of Python, R, cloud frameworks (Databricks/Azure/AWS), core analytics and spatial packages (e.g., sklearn, PySAL, geopandas, sf, dplyr, etc.)
- Strong data visualization skills (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, Streamlit, Plotly, ggplot, ArcGIS)
- Excellent analytical skills, with the highest level of attention to detail

- Base salary range for this position is $100K to $120K. The Company provides this compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that in good faith, believes it might pay and/or offer for this position. Total compensation for this role also includes a bonus incentive in addition to the base salary.
