The Associate Engineer of Interconnection is an entry-level position supporting multiple generation interconnections for wind, solar, and battery storage projects. The ideal candidate is a recent engineering school graduate with practical experience in the renewable energy industry, capable of supporting diverse technical project tasks. A passion for renewable energy and a desire to grow technically are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple workloads in a fast-paced environment.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Project Management
- Support the generator interconnection process schedule, milestones, and study deposit deadlines.
- Assist in submitting interconnection requests, ensuring all requirements are met.
- Track project budgets, timelines, and documentation, coordinating with development and finance teams.
- Review and administer contracts, interact with counterparties, and review invoices through the AP system.
- Support commercial negotiations and develop tools to communicate interconnection costs and assumptions.
- Learn to interface with transmission owners, providers, and other entities to facilitate project success.
- Learn electrical designs for collection systems, substations, and radial lines.
- Support review of interconnection studies and coordinate adherence to timelines.
- Assist in identifying POIs for new projects and manage injection studies with consultants.
- Provide and receive feedback effectively, address issues independently, and identify knowledge gaps.
- Ensure work accuracy before sharing and coordinate data/documentation during project handoff.
- Analyze and gather input to inform strategy, deliver annual goals, and embody Scout’s values.
Minimum requirements include a BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, with preferred internship or co-op experience in generation interconnection or transmission planning, and experience with power flow analysis. The candidate must be self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Google Earth, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is required. The role involves 10-15% travel and requires legal authorization to work in the U.S.
