This role is responsible for the structural development of a series of small modular nuclear power plants. No Nuclear experience is required for this position. This opportunity is great for candidates with a civil structural background who are interested in growing their PM skillset. You will act as a liaison between the technical team and the Project Manager, working cross functionally.
Pay Range: $109,000 to $152,000 based on experience

Minimum Education/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering or related degree from an accredited institution.
- At least 3 (three) years of experience in an engineering role required.
- Experience with assessing civil/structural engineering phenomena to inform design of buildings and structures.
- Analytical experience with civil/structural hazard assessment (e.g. by fragility analysis, hand calculations, and/or civil structural design and analysis software programs.)
- Some experience supporting project management duties is preferred.
- Experience directing or interfacing with subcontractors is preferred.
Location: Rockville, MD (DMV area) - onsite - RELOCATION ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE
Travel Expectations: 25% (as needed for project assignment, team rotation, one week every 6 to 8 weeks starting at the end of the year)
Hours: Standard office hours are 8:00am ET to 5:00pm ET, Monday -Friday
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- This position will execute the core tasks and responsibilities listed below with minimal supervision:
- Provide ownership, responsibility, and accountability over technical scope involving the coordination of multiple individual contributors working in a specific area.
- Provide oversight to subcontractors and vendors for technical design and analysis assignments.
- Support the advancement of the plant site layout and complete design of several Xe-100 civil/structural buildings and structures through final design and construction.
- Apply civil engineering codes and standards to inform the development and implementation of risk-informed and performance-based structural design criteria.
- Use knowledge and experience of civil/structural engineering analysis principles to inform risk-informed performance-based methods for hazard assessment, including seismic and other hazard fragilities, as informed by probabilistic risk assessment and failure modes effects analysis conducted by other teams.
- Work with construction teams to evaluate sequencing, cost estimations, material quantity estimates, schedule development, and modularization concepts for development of the design towards the implementation of the Xe-100 plant.
- Ensure the civil/structural buildings and structures have the capability to perform required functions and satisfy all stated requirements throughout the plant development lifecycle.
- Identify, define, and manage interfaces between diverse engineering and other teams to advance the multi-discipline design for the Xe-100.
- Ensure work complies with all applicable local, national, and international codes, regulations, and quality standards.
- Communicate inputs and performance commitments to Project Leads and/or Project Managers and the matrixed departments that support system project execution (Finance, Subcontracts/Procurement, Engineering, Licensing, Quality/Safety, etc.). This includes activity/delivery schedules, cost estimates, subcontracting requirements, quality requirements, regulatory requirements, deliverable definition, etc.
