An established and growing heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Superintendent with a strong background in underground utilities and heavy demolition. This role involves managing field operations on complex infrastructure projects across the Bay Area, with occasional travel as needed (approximately 10-20%).
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day site operations for underground utility installation and demolition projects
- Manage field crews, subcontractors, and site logistics to ensure efficient project execution
- Ensure full compliance with safety procedures, environmental regulations, and project specifications
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and vendors to maintain project timelines and budgets
- Conduct regular inspections, identify and resolve field issues, and maintain quality standards
- Maintain accurate records, including daily reports, equipment logs, and incident documentation
- Lead by example to promote a safety-first, team-oriented work culture
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, specifically underground utilities (storm, sewer, water) and/or demolition
- Proven track record of successfully leading field operations on complex projects
- Strong understanding of excavation, trenching, shoring, dewatering, and demolition best practices
- Skilled in reading blueprints, site plans, and construction drawings
- Effective communicator with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- OSHA certifications preferred; additional safety or supervisory training a plus
- Willingness to travel regionally as project demands require
