Summary
The Commercial Trainer, Sales Enablement applies broad expertise & knowledge in the development and program management of product, business planning, territory management, sales-centric systems, competitive landscape, and selling skills training. Leads and contributes to development of content creation, delivery (both presentation and facilitation) as well as managing training programs to improve the knowledge and skills of new and experienced sales personnel. This expertise needed for this role is in the areas of genetic testing, specifically the basic principles of multi-gene panels, chromosomal microarray, exome sequencing, and genome sequencing. Additionally, tenure as a sales trainer or salesperson who has contributed significantly to training efforts is required to adequately complete the responsibilities of this role. Project management, time management, and the ability to incorporate feedback via timely follow through are skills integral to this position.
The Commercial Trainer, Sales Enablement will report to the Head of Training and Sales Enablement and will work with their direct teammates, Sales leadership, and other GeneDx commercial leaders to implement and execute training strategies to address the needs of the Sales team. This role requires thoughtful collaboration and partnership in order to bring the goals of the organization to life through Sales education and integration.
Areas of focus will be onboarding, new hire training, ongoing training (including launches), product messaging, sales enablement tools, including our Learning Management System (LMS), as well as field rides, regional meeting and national sales meeting support.
Job Responsibilities
- Create, facilitate, and present product, policy, launch, and sales content and assess training effectiveness for the sales team via quizzes, surveys, and practice activities. Content includes (but is not limited to):
- Slide decks for presentations
- Business planning and territory management structure and templates
- Recorded demonstrations of how to use our sales-centric systems (e.g. Tableau and Salesforce)
- Talking points and FAQ documents
- Enablement resources (pages, step-by-step guides, and playbooks)
- Courses/curricula within GeneDx’s Learning Management System (LMS)
- Collaborate with Sales Leadership, Marketing, Training counterparts, Commercialization and Strategy, Sales Operations, and other internal stakeholders to identify training needs.
- Create and update resources and reference material for the sales team.
- Contribute to the team’s development of training plans and messaging.
- Own all training phases: onboarding, new hire training, advanced leadership training, and any other ongoing training.
- Work with the training team to plan, organize, facilitate, and execute meetings, such as the annual Global Commercial Meeting, as well as other commercial meetings.
- Identify opportunities to improve sales effectiveness through strategic training and follow through with appropriate solutions.
- Provide clarification when questions relevant to this role arise.
- Work with other teams to make decisions about the most appropriate sales enablement tools to increase RAE effectiveness.
- Incorporate best practices for adult learning strategies.
- Travel required as needed for meetings/events; approximately 10-20% travel required.
Education, Experience, and Skills
- Exceptional communication skills – including the ability to digest a plethora of information at once, help distill for training, and articulate the information in a clear and concise manner in both oral and written presentations.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills, with an emphasis on project management and prioritization.
- Experience developing engaging and educational content for a broad audience.
- Ability to present in front of large groups, both live and over video conferencing.
- Ability to prioritize and balance workload to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work with colleagues at varying levels of the organization and readily incorporate feedback.

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience, with master’s degree preferred
- 5+ years of sales training experience in the genetics industry, as well as previous field sales or clinical experience.
- Moderate to advanced experience using MS Office, Confluence, an LMS, Salesforce, Tableau.
