Step into Your New Role
As a Construction Inspector Trainee, you will perform general construction inspection tasks to verify compliance with standards, codes, ordinances, zoning regulations, as well as contract plans, specifications, and special provisions. Projects will consist of bridges, roadways, and environmental components to these services. This position is available in the Northern Virginia, Richmond, Lynchburg, Christiansburg, and Hampton Roads areas of VA.
Responsibilities:
- Inspects and monitors construction sites and the various work activities on these sites to verify adherence to standards, codes, and specifications.
- Prepares daily reports documenting inspections and other relevant project information.
- Inspect various phases of contractor work to ensure proper highway construction.
- Read and interpret construction plans for structures, bridges, and roadways with an understanding of construction specifications, engineering tables, and reference materials.
- Perform field tests/sampling for material specification compliance.
- Document field inspections, pay quantities, and other important relevant project information.
- Communicates verbally and in writing with contractors, owners, and project stakeholders as directed.
- Assist with communications of field testing of materials associated with inspection.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 0-3 years in the field or in trade-related training in a design, construction inspection, construction materials engineering/testing, or other construction-related field.
- Must be able to read, write, comprehend, and speak English fluently.
- Attendance, punctuality, and reliability are essential requirements.
- Familiarity with the use of PC-based computer systems and/or tablet systems.
- Current/valid State Driver's License REQUIRED with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass a fingerprint/background check.
- Ability to obtain construction field materials testing certifications, i.e. Asphalt, concrete, work zone, pavement marking, environmental, etc.

Benefits:
Kleinfelder offers an excellent compensation and benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid holidays. The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the Equal Pay Act. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary range: $23-$30/hr.
