Base pay range
$150,000.00/yr - $165,000.00/yr

Position Objective
The Director of Engineering will maintain the entire hotel facility, including the physical building structure, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and related equipment in accordance with energy conservation and preventative maintenance programs.
Essential Job Functions
- Conduct walk-throughs and visually assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structure(s) of the hotel, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and any other related equipment.
- Verify completion of all routine maintenance on public spaces, meeting rooms, ballrooms, outlets, back of the house spaces, and grounds. Verify completion of all repairs, replacement, and renovation projects to offices and employee work areas.
- Assist in hiring, training, supervising, and disciplining department staff and all other staff under the direction of the Engineering Department, such as painters, upholsterers, and groundskeepers.
- Adhere to all corporate-required purchasing policies and controls, including, but not limited to, all outside contractor bids, budgets, and schedules. Follow prescribed safety procedures for personnel and equipment by the company and OSHA.
- Maintain effective Energy Management and Preventive Maintenance programs and conduct special training for other operating departments on the safe and efficient use of equipment and energy in the hotel.
- Inform the Managing Director and Hotel Department Heads on a regular basis regarding the specific and overall condition of the building structure(s), related systems, and equipment offering prudent, cost-effective proposals for maintaining these systems. Access and input information into a computer and generate reports.
- Perform a variety of supportive functions as needed, including supervising repairs, preparing technical data, training staff, attending meetings, overseeing payrolls, water treatment programs, and representing the hotel in community and industry organizations.
- Provide constructive feedback to all departments and serve as a leader and role model to all employees.
Education/Experience
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s Degree or related technical school degree preferred.
- Five to seven years in a major hotel, hospital, or building, including four years in a supervisory capacity.
Requirements
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Must be able to read and write to facilitate communication.
- Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Most tasks are performed in a team environment with minimal supervision.
- Must possess basic computational and computer skills, including knowledge of accounting programs, budgeting, and building systems.
- Thorough knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems, and experience with building codes and blueprints.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and deal with problems involving several variables.
Physical Demands
- Ability to work indoors and in extreme temperatures, lift weights up to 100 lbs, and perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, and manual dexterity.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and have good visual and auditory acuity.

- Ability to work effectively under stress, handle interruptions, and communicate clearly.
