Director of Operations – Boutique Law Firm, San Francisco, CA
Join a boutique law firm in San Francisco, known for its long tenure, great culture, and collaborative spirit. We’re seeking a Director of Operations for this hybrid role (4 days in-office, 1 day remote) reporting to the Managing Partner, supervising seven staff members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the firm and supervise a staff of seven non-attorney employees.
- Serve as human resources manager, including overseeing onboarding, conducting performance reviews, and working with the Managing Partner on counseling and separating employees.
- Create and oversee annual budgets and provide periodic cash flow forecasts.
- Manage outside vendor relationships, including contract negotiations and renewals.
- Lead space planning and facilities management, working with property management on maintenance and repairs.
- Serve as benefits administrator, managing medical, dental, vision, FSA, HSA, commuter, and retirement plans.
- Coordinate and plan internal social events and occasional external events.
- Work with assigned partners to oversee renewal and negotiation of the firm’s insurance policies.
- Coordinate with the firm’s outside IT consultants regarding office needs and annual IT budget.
- Serve as back-up for certain accounting functions when the Accounting Manager is not available.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years in office management and HR (law firm experience preferred).
- Empathic leadership, budgeting skills, and tech proficiency (MS Suite).
- College degree required.
Compensation:
- Salary: $170,000–$210,000
- Benefits: 26 days PTO, free health/dental, 12 weeks paid leave, 401k.
