Position Overview: The Director of Pharmacy Services is responsible for pharmacy strategy, tactics, and clinical operations at Aspire Health, including setting the vision for Pharmacy Services, providing education and direction to staff, and working with leadership to meet organizational goals. Key focus areas include managing pharmacy costs, improving quality performance, reducing operating costs, and enhancing community health through pharmacy interventions. The role ensures compliance with all applicable regulations.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement pharmacy strategies in collaboration with senior leadership across all business lines and geographies.
- Manage pharmacy costs, utilization, and benefit management capabilities to support growth.
- Oversee clinical operations of PBM and delegated entities, ensuring quality and compliance.
- Participate in strategic committees, oversee delegated P&T committees, and report actions.
- Collaborate with providers and health plan partners to optimize formulary use and lower member costs.
- Hire, develop, and evaluate pharmacy staff.
- Coordinate with other departments to develop total cost of care initiatives and develop actionable reports.
- Ensure pharmacy programs meet Medicare and other regulatory requirements.
- Design and monitor tactics to improve pharmacy-related quality metrics like STARs and medication reconciliation.
- Develop and monitor departmental budgets and ensure compliance with contracts and regulations.
- Foster positive relationships with providers and community partners, promoting innovative care and reimbursement models.
- Respond to inquiries related to clinical pharmacy services and support membership growth.
- Perform all functions in accordance with policies, procedures, and legal requirements, including HIPAA.
Work Experience: At least five years of senior managerial experience in pharmaceutical leadership, preferably with managed Medicare/Medicaid experience and strategic direction in pharmacy management.
Education, Certificates, Licenses: Doctor of Pharmacy degree and an unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in California.
Knowledge: Deep understanding of healthcare management, pharmacy operations, healthcare economics, insurance industry specifics, and cost containment strategies. Proficiency in quality assurance, utilization review, and pharmacy systems is essential.
