Job Description:
The EHS Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the organizations health, safety, and environmental programs. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, federal, and state regulations while fostering a safety culture within the company. The EHS Specialist will provide training, oversee safety protocols, investigate incidents, and drive continuous improvement in workplace safety.
Responsibilities:
- Promote and maintain a safety culture through leadership and engagement with employees.
- Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations.
- Act as the first point of contact during emergencies, providing guidance and support.
- Collaborate with department heads to develop safety plans and control methods, ensuring adherence to safety regulations.
- Assist in developing task-specific activity hazard analyses for various projects and document compliance efforts.
- Organize and lead Safety Committee meetings to address safety concerns and improvements.
- Conduct safety inspections, jobsite walkthroughs, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.
- Provide employee training on safety protocols, safe equipment operation, and regulatory compliance.
- Investigate workplace accidents, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain safety metrics and generate reports as required by OSHA and corporate policies.
- Evaluate and address risk assessments and safety concerns related to work instructions, processes, and tooling.
- Stay current with industry regulations and maintain safety certifications.
- Work with claim representatives to provide necessary information for workers compensation and other safety-related claims.
- Conduct and document safety meetings, new hire orientations, and specialized training sessions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
