Job Description
The primary responsibilities of the Environmental Inspector include:
- Performing SWPPP inspections for projects with stormwater permit authorization
- Inspecting stockpiles, silt fences, etc., per CASQA guidance
- Reporting and documenting any noncompliance events and their resolution
- Managing your own schedule and communicating it clearly to the client and project manager
- Being responsible for meeting standards of quality and meeting internal deadlines
- Taking ownership of assignments and seeing them through to completion
- Implementing field assignments in accordance with health, safety and quality control requirements
- Maintaining professional image while interacting with clients
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university in Civil Engineering, Geology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related field
- 40-hour HAZWOPER training and current 8-hour HAZWOPER refreshers
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficient in MS Word Office Suite Products
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed
- Detail-oriented with paperwork and submittals
- Ability to correctly fill out a field notebook, photography documentation, health and safety audit forms, etc.
- Attend and/or lead a health and safety daily meeting
- Collect soil and water samples, complete paperwork, and transport to a laboratory
- Ability to calibrate and operate field meters (e.g., pH) and record results
- Inspect stormwater best management practices (BMPs) and report findings
Additional Information
Salary: Negotiable, $80,000/year (DOE)
