Overview
The Event Sales Manager develops strategies and initiates potential business accounts, including national, corporate, association, sports tournaments, and other group functions, to generate hotel business.
Responsibilities
- Understand basic sales techniques and customer service principles.
- Maintain knowledge of departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
- Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly, and maintain positive guest relations.
- Solicit account leads and represent the hotel to prospective clients.
- Be familiar with hotel services, features, and local attractions to respond to inquiries.
- Manage group room blocks, prepare invoices, and review bills for accuracy.
- Prepare and distribute banquet event orders and negotiate contracts.
- Lead site inspections, attend trade shows, and make sales calls.
- Forecast group pick-up and participate in trade organizations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum two years of college; degree preferred.
- Excellent communication skills.
- 2-4 years of experience in sales or event services preferred.
- Strong relationship-building and networking skills.
- Outgoing, self-motivated, and personable.
- Experience in hospitality sales, conference planning, or conventions desirable.
