The National Center for Civil and Human Rights (NCCHR) seeks an Events Manager to join our dynamic and versatile Events Team. At NCCHR, the Events Team provides a full range of small and large format events, hospitality, and business services. We support NCCHR professionals with program and institutional event needs, including meeting and event planning and execution. We work collaboratively with colleagues throughout the organization, applying specialized knowledge and skills to provide meaningful experiences.

Role
An Events Manager is responsible for working with clients to complete on-site and virtual event sales, services, and fulfillment for NCCHR. NCCHR Event Managers are well-versed in event communications, multi-level scheduling, and the coordination of meetings and events. You will oversee all logistical aspects of planning and executing various events, from concept development to on-site management, including venue selection, vendor management, budget allocation, and guest coordination, ensuring a successful and memorable experience while adhering to client objectives and timelines.
Responsibilities
- Coach and counsel employees to reflect company service standards and procedures.
- Administer all phases of the event department, including sales, planning, marketing, servicing, and administrative procedures.
- Conduct short- and long-term planning and management for events and sales.
- Maintain or exceed budgeted sales and profits in all event areas.
- Handle inbound event leads and inquiries.
- Serve as the primary contact during event planning and implementation, including brainstorming, menu recommendations, space selection, scheduling, logistical planning, and liaising with vendors.
- Train, supervise, and collaborate with event staff to book event space, plan, upsell NCCHR experiences, and execute functions.
- Provide guidance to internal departments for securing and utilizing meeting and event spaces, logistics, setup, and catering for internal events.
- Apply effective communication and collaboration practices to ensure excellent event experiences.
- Communicate NCCHR Events policies and procedures to clients and ensure adherence during events.
- Complete pre- and post-event responsibilities as required.
Requirements
Core Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
- 1-2 years’ experience in a senior role in Event/Catering environment.
- Critical thinking, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Professional appearance; highly organized and personable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and SharePoint.
- Experience with Event Software Interactive preferred.
- Availability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.
- Commitment to NCCHR’s mission, values, and vision.
