As a Formula Validation Specialist, you’ll ensure that every Benefit product meets global regulatory and safety requirements. By collaborating with our R&D team and the LVMH Homologation team, you’ll help bring our bold formulas to life. From gathering raw material documentation to coordinating testing and tracking timelines, you’ll ensure everything runs smoothly, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulations. It’s not just about validation—it’s about ensuring our products deliver on our promises and maintain the integrity that our customers expect.
What You’ll Do:
- Review quantitative formulas and gather raw material documentation from contract manufacturers. Share this data with LVMH Homologation team to support safety evaluations and ensure compliance with global regulatory and toxicological requirements.
- Review and process formulas and raw material documentation to ensure they meet formula validation requirements. Flag any issues to R&D Chemists promptly to support timely resolution and compliance.
- Coordinate and track raw material testing with internal and external laboratories. Review heavy metal test results and calculate heavy metal content in finished goods to ensure compliance with regulatory and toxicological standards.
- Develop and maintain Benefit’s Raw Material Restriction List. Monitor formulas under development and promptly notify the Manager, Regulatory – Product Validation, and R&D Chemist if any non-compliance with restrictions is identified.
- Distribute the most current Benefit and LVMH Restriction Lists to R&D Chemists, contract manufacturers and provide guidance to ensure understanding and compliance with regulatory requirements, e.g., Microplastics and Nanoparticles.
- Track formula validation timelines in the web-based project management planning system (Sopheon), ensuring all activities are completed on schedule to support product launch. Proactively escalate any delays or issues to direct manager.
- Maintain detailed notes on formula validation progress in the Validation Tracker (OneNote) and ensure Validation Status Report is consistently updated to provide project visibility for both Benefit & LVMH stakeholders.
- Coordinate and lead meetings with contract manufacturers and LVMH Homologation team to monitor formula validation progress. This includes preparing agendas and meeting recaps, and facilitating discussions as needed.
- Create and submit purchase orders for outside testing, maintaining testing budget chart for Sr. Director, R&D and Validation.
- Attend Integrated Timeline, Project Handoff, and Project Check-In meetings to provide updates on formula validation progress. Ensure that formula validation deadlines are aligned with the overall project timeline .
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry , Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry or related field
- 2+ years of experience in regulatory compliance, product validation, quality assurance/control and/or R&D
- Experience working with cosmetic formulation/raw materials, raw material documentation, formula validation & regulatory standards
- Familiarity with safety assessments, certifications, and compliance processes for raw materials and finished products
- Knowledge of testing methods (e.g. heavy metal testing, PCR) and understanding of testing documentation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e. Word and Excel)
Schedule:
- Hybrid - requires onsite presence weekly to a Benefit Office
The target salary range for this position in California is $33.65/hr - $41.60/hr. The actual salary offered is based on market location and will depend on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, years of relevant experience; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job. This position is eligible to earn an annual bonus.
