Position Overview:
M.C. Dean is seeking a highly motivated and creative Instructional Designer (ID) to create performance-based learning for learners engaged in a highly technical environment. As the Instructional Designer, you will oversee the creation, design, and implementation of engaging and impactful learning materials across various platforms and formats, utilizing your expertise in instructional design, content development, and educational technologies to enhance learning experiences for employees and customers.
Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive content aligned with the organization's learning objectives and target audience needs.
- Lead the instructional design process, collaborating with subject matter experts and stakeholders to identify learning goals and develop clear objectives.
- Apply instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles to create engaging and interactive experiences.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of diverse learning content, including online courses, training materials, videos, webinars, assessments, and other resources.
- Create high-quality learning materials, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to standards.
- Utilize e-learning platforms and technologies to enhance content delivery and accessibility.
- Explore and integrate multimedia elements to enrich content and increase engagement.
- Implement quality assurance processes to review and update learning materials, keeping content current and relevant.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather content and deliver training on content development best practices.
- Use learning analytics to assess content effectiveness and inform improvements.
- Ensure compliance with regulations, accessibility standards, and copyright laws.
- Report on the impact and effectiveness of content development initiatives to leadership.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of experience; degree in Instructional Design, Education, Multimedia, or related field; master's preferred.
- Degree in engineering or a technical field combined with education or multimedia background is a plus.
- Certification as an Instructional Designer or in Performance DNA/HPI is a plus.
- Proven experience in instructional design.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design models.
- Experience producing performance-based learning.
- Proficiency with e-learning authoring tools, LMS, and multimedia software.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Creative with attention to detail and aesthetics.
- Knowledge of emerging trends in learning technologies.
- Experience with blended learning, microlearning, and gamification is a plus.
Abilities:
- Ability to work with extended screen time and sit for long periods.
- Manual dexterity for manipulating objects and using keyboard.
- Effective communication skills—listening, speaking, reading, and understanding.
