The Kings County District Attorney’s Office (KCDA) is one of the largest prosecutors’ offices in the country, committed to innovative prosecutorial strategies that ensure safety, fairness, and justice in Brooklyn. KCDA offers an exciting opportunity for an Intelligence Analyst to work in the Digital Evidence Lab.
Under general supervision, with some independence in initiative and judgment, the candidate will perform the following duties:
- Review and analyze digital evidence relevant to investigations and cases, including video surveillance, cell phone records, extraction reports, and open-source intelligence from social media platforms.
- Create visual aids such as video compilations, PowerPoint presentations, geolocation maps, for investigations and courtroom presentations.
- Testify before grand juries or at trials regarding analyses involving digital evidence.
- Provide daily reports on criminal activity across Brooklyn to senior officials and attorneys.
- Assist in training Assistant District Attorneys and analysts on protocols and digital evidence use.
- Support complex investigations both short and long-term.
- Attend trainings for court testimony and professional development.
- Perform other intelligence gathering functions as needed.
Preferred Skills
- Ability to work with large datasets and adapt to evolving data sources.
- Experience in law enforcement environments.
- Knowledge of applications like LexisNexis Accurint, i2 Analyst's Notebook, Google Earth, and Cellebrite is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to explain analytical processes clearly.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with initiative and the ability to work independently or in teams.
Additional Information
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma and three years of experience in community work or related activities, or equivalent education/experience.
Residency Requirement
NYC residency required within 90 days of appointment, with some flexibility for employees with certain city tenure.
