As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within Commercial and Investment Bank Macro Technology team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
Job Responsibilities
Execute software solutions, including design, development, and technical troubleshooting, with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or resolve technical problems.
Create secure and high-quality production code, maintaining algorithms that operate synchronously with appropriate systems.
Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications, ensuring design constraints are met by software code development.
Gather, analyze, synthesize, and develop visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets to continuously improve software applications and systems.
Proactively identify hidden problems and patterns in data, using these insights to drive improvements in coding hygiene and system architecture.
Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies.
Foster a team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
Develop secure and high-quality production code in Java, reviewing and debugging code written by others.
Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate the remediation of recurring issues to enhance the overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
Engage with key stakeholders, understanding and aligning with business objectives.
Actively participate in an L3 support rotation, partnering with Production Management to support the Trading and Operations users of the team's systems.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts with 3+ years applied experience
Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
Proficient in coding in Java one or more languages
Experience in L3 support rotations
Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Experience with Python
Experience in WPF .NET
Exposure to cloud technologies
Experience with Linux
