How will you make an impact? -
.We are seeking a skilled Lead Mechanical CAD Designer to join our team, specializing in power distribution products and data center infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical components and systems that support electrical distribution, cooling solutions, and structural integrity within data centers and power distribution networks.
The Lead Mechanical CAD Designer DCI will be responsible for creating detailed model designs, modifying existing designs, and working collaboratively with engineers and other team members to meet product specifications. The ideal candidate has in-depth knowledge of CAD software, is detail-oriented, and can effectively communicate design ideas. A strong understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes and material properties is critical. This role will involve selecting key components, component placement, selecting fastening methods, and transitioning design to manufacturing.
What will you do? -
Create detailed 2D and 3D mechanical designs and diagrams using CAD software.
Proficiency in various CAD software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, PTC Creo and Autodesk Inventor, to design, draft, and model complex mechanical equipment and systems
Proficiency in product lifecycle management systems, such as Windchill or similar.
Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, PTC Creo) to create 3D models, technical drawings, and prototypes
Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and concepts to accurately create designs that meet technical specifications and standards
Perform tolerance stack-up and interference analysis to ensure proper fit, function, and manufacturability of mechanical components
Work closely with engineers and other designers to meet product specifications and performance requirements
Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems
Prepare and revise engineering drawings, schematics, BOMs, and layouts as required or release to manufacturing
Check and validate designs to ensure they meet required quality and safety standards
Excellent attention to detail for ensuring the accuracy of measurements, dimensions, and design specifications
Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials for creating feasible and cost-effective designs
Conduct component selection for pipes, fittings, and valves based on factors like fluid type, temperature, pressure, corrosion resistance in chillers, HVAC systems and liquid cooling loops
Evaluate/optimize manufacturing assembly processes by designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment, conferring with equipment vendors, and soliciting observations from production team
Adept at creating detailed mechanical design of components, sub-assemblies, and system integration
Manage relationships with mechanical component vendors and contract manufacturers
Keep updated with the latest technologies and methods to ensure competitive and cost-effective designs
Discuss with management and production staff to assess engineering feasibility and cost-effectiveness
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
How will you get here?
Education:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design or relevant field is required
Experience:
8 10 years experience in Mechanical Destin within the power distribution or Data Center Industry is required
Proven experience as a CAD designer, preferably in a mechanical engineering environment
Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar)
Proficiency in PLM tools (Windchill)
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, integration strategy, and system coordination
