Support local safety functions and assist units in interpreting, developing, implementing, enforcing, and monitoring safety management programs as mandated by Federal, State, local and ARC regulations, standards, and policies. Serve as professional safety resource to meet critical safety needs while supporting the ARC mission and lowering the cost of risk to the organization. May serve as liaison between field units, regulatory agencies and their representatives, and Headquarters to improve communication, enhance compliance and reduce liability. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.
Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State, and local regulations.
Responsibilities
- Process workers compensation claims, communicate with employees, insurance carriers, and medical providers, and local management.
- Work with local management to facilitate a safe and effective return to work after an injury.
- Communicating effectively with employees, supervisors, and other stakeholders regarding workers’ compensation matters.
- Understand OSHA recordkeeping, which include informing the safety manager of any reportable injuries.
- Claim management, track claim from filing to follow up until resolved, including obtaining medical documentation
- Provide assistant to the injured employee and local management on the workers’ compensation process
- Provide oversight and guidance to assigned units in meeting regulatory compliance mandates under such governmental agencies, including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, DOT, and local fire protection agencies. May develop or conduct related training programs.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of safety procedures and adequacy of compliance with Federal, State, and local laws. Analyze, report, and collect safety performance, property and casualty, or other loss data. May support implementation of any necessary actions resulting from performance statistics.
- Support unit management in abating any imminent hazards and develop corrective action plans to prioritize and correct all hazards in a timely manner.
- Provide guidance on or conduct routine audits and assessments for occupational safety, health and environmental management systems including but not limited to OSHA programs, DOT programs, waste management programs, chemical hygiene plans, exposure control plans, PPE management programs and fleet safety programs.

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree required.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
Management Experience: N/a
Skills & Abilities: Professional Certifications/Licenses CSP, CHCM, ARM may be required. Ability to work on a team.
Travel: Travel may be required.
*Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description’s minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones and printers, light traffic). The employee must have the ability to work in asmall cubicle andhave the ability tosit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.

PAY INFORMATION: The annual salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000. We do not offer an annual bonus for this role. Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. **We will review specific salary information at the time of phone screening based upon your location & experience.**
