Job Description
Position Summary
Under routine supervision of the Deputy General Manager of Engineering, the Maintenance Engineering Manager directs and supervises all activities associated with maintaining manufacturing equipment and facilities. The manager directly supervises the Maintenance Engineering staff and is responsible for ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and cost targets are met through planning and managing equipment and facility improvements. Additionally, the manager oversees all production equipment and facility changes as part of the management team, maintains spare parts inventory, and supervises maintenance associates.
Education, Experience, and Licenses/Certifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering
- Alternatively, military training or equivalent experience in heavy manufacturing
- Minimum of 5 years manufacturing leadership experience

- Oversee maintenance of the steel manufacturing plant, ensuring effective resource focus on reliability
- Coordinate with Operations to schedule preventative maintenance
- Build and lead world-class mechanical and preventative maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability and efficiency
- Manage external contractors for installations and projects
- Collaborate across departments to meet customer deadlines
- Hire, train, coach, and evaluate employees; work with HR on disciplinary actions, terminations, and recruitment
- Oversee safety team activities and enforce safety standards
- Foster a positive work environment
- Implement improvements in production methods, equipment performance, and product quality
- Recommend changes to working conditions and equipment use for efficiency
- Assist workers in resolving work problems
- Maintain maintenance and time records
- Develop justifications for capital equipment to enhance quality, reduce costs, and improve cycle times
- Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials
- Manage annual maintenance and capital budgets, including long-term projections
- Oversee major maintenance and capital projects to ensure timely and within-budget completion

- Experience with maintenance strategies such as TPM, RCM, Planning/Scheduling, Predictive and Preventive Maintenance
