THE ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
It is an inspiring and meaningful time to join the UC Law San Francisco Advancement Team. As we undertake the largest fundraising campaign in the College’s history, we seek a Major Gifts Officer to raise critical funds from alumni and friends of the College to enhance UC Law SF’s ability to impact the legal profession, expand opportunities for students, and fuel innovation through cutting-edge research and programs.
Major Gifts Officer - Advancement
Classification: Class Code 6111 / Level 4 / Exempt / Full-Time / Benefited
Anticipated salary range: $100,000-$130,000 (commensurate with experience)
Responsibilities include:
- Managing a portfolio of 125-150 current, lapsed, and prospective major and principal gift donors through the donor cycle – identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, focusing on donors with the capacity to make five- to seven-figure gifts.
- Collaborating with the Chief Development Officer and Director of Philanthropy to maintain a viable prospect portfolio.
- Partnering with the Advancement team, College leadership, faculty, and other internal members to share key initiatives and updates, advancing solicitation and stewardship strategies.
- Participating in events such as Convocation, Swearing-In Ceremony, Chancellor’s Reception, Spring Week, Alumni Chapter and Affinity Group events, and others for donor engagement.
- Documenting all communications with donors in the Raiser’s Edge NXT database.
- Other related responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree; advanced degrees preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in relationship-based major gifts.
- Proven success in securing major gifts and increasing donor support.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong relationship-building skills and rapport development with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to travel locally and nationally; valid driver’s license required.
