OSW Equipment & Repair, LLC, a subsidiary of Federal Signal Corporation, is the largest truck body and trailer manufacturer in the Pacific Northwest. OSW's main facility is located in the Maltby area in Snohomish County. OSW has been in business for over 20 years and has branches in Edmonton, Canada, and Tempe, Arizona.
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for manufacturing process improvement. You will plan, organize, lead, and perform activities to define the production process to be used and support process changes designed to improve safety, quality, and manufacturing efficiency throughout the manufacturing area, utilizing lean manufacturing techniques. Duties/Responsibilities
- Lead process improvement initiatives including process experimentation, design, optimization, control, and process definition and documentation to reduce waste and achieve continuous improvement, ultimately leading to significant cost reductions.
- Lead lean manufacturing initiatives to improve safety, reduce cycle times, enhance productivity, create and find capacity, improve process reliability, and increase customer satisfaction regarding quality, on-time delivery, and yields.
- Develop, maintain, and deploy standard work for all processes. Collaborate with Quality and Production Managers to ensure operator training and proficiency.
- Manage and execute process engineering changes, reviewing processes to include control over process parameters, methods, tooling, etc.
- Develop expert-level competency in core process technologies and stay updated on equipment and manufacturing technology changes. Constantly search for and evaluate potential breakthrough technologies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Exhibit leadership skills.
- Advanced computer skills (Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred).
- Must be self-motivated, have a high sense of urgency, be able to problem solve complex situations, and be resourceful.
- Be a team player working with co-workers and other departments. The focus is on meeting company goals and initiatives.
- Experience with change management practices.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred; BMSE encouraged.
- A minimum of five years manufacturing experience required.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods standing and walking.
- Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach inventory for counting purposes.
- Must be able to visually inspect inventory.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
Additional Job Information
- Wage Expectations: $77,768.80 - $98,000 annually.
- Pay: This is an exempt, salaried position, and employees are paid on a bi-weekly basis.
- Typical Schedule: Five (5) eight (8) hour days, Monday to Friday.
- Location: On-site at 20812 Broadway Ave, Snohomish, WA 98296.
