Microgrid Engineer

You will focus on designing, developing, and advancing DER projects across our business and with stakeholders to enhance grid reliability or support stakeholder resilience needs. What You'll Do
Lead Project Development: Lead efforts to design and advance DER projects; ensure projects are designed to meet key objectives and stakeholders are engaged throughout the process.
Provide Technical Support: Offer technical leadership and expertise to support Georgia Power and Southern Company's growth in DER projects and technologies, with a focus on BESS and Microgrid solutions.
Contribute to Strategy: Provide input to future integrated resource plans (IRP), DER strategies, and interconnection policies.
Engage with Industry: Participate in relevant industry committees and working groups.
Navigate Regulations: Read, interpret, and communicate policies, procedures, regulatory proceedings, and legal agreements.
Support Project Management : Following project design, support project management to ensure the project is successfully implemented and goals are met.
Support Project Interconnections: Provide support for interconnection projects, coordinating across business functions.
What You'll Bring Education
Required: Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Electrical Engineering preferred).
Desired: Professional Engineer (PE) license, advanced Engineering Degrees, or relevant industry certifications.
Experience
Essential: Experience in planning, design, engineering, operations, or maintenance of electric transmission or distribution systems.
Highly Preferred: Specific experience with DERS, including BESS, Microgrid technologies, or the generator interconnection process.
Collaborative Mindset: Experience in fostering an inclusive work environment.

Location & Flexibility
This role is based in our Atlanta, GA office at 241 Ralph McGill Boulevard with in-office expectations. Some travel to potential sites or external events will be required.
