We are seeking a Mid-Level Quality Assurance Engineer in Oakland, CA, with expertise in transportation systems to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring quality compliance across all phases of project execution, including design, procurement, construction, and operations. You will play a key role in supporting complex engineering tasks while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver seamless system integration solutions. This role will require you to be onsite at Jacobs client location 3 days a week.
Oversee the implementation and adherence to the Jacobs & Client Quality Management System
Assist in the development and updates of Systems Quality Management Plans and Procedures
Conduct quality reviews of contract documents to ensure compliance with established standards
Evaluate and improve process controls for estimating, scheduling, and change management
Lead discussions on quality assurance measures in project meetings and reviews
Implement QA/QC program requirements throughout project phases, including testing, training, commissioning, and turnover
Approve and monitor execution of Contractor QA/QC plans, ensuring compliance with industry best practices
Review and track inspections, material verification, equipment calibration, corrective/preventive actions, and subcontractor quality records
Collaborate with third-party oversight bodies (FTA/PMOC) to maintain regulatory compliance
Conduct data analysis and prepare comprehensive reports on quality performance, audits, and corrective actions
Develop and implement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assess and optimize quality management practices
Deliver quality assurance training materials and provide ongoing staff education on QA/QC principles
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation systems design, delivery, and integration
Preferred experience: Train control and other transit systems, construction management, and quality assurance best practices
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving quality issues
