Job Overview:
An established law firm with a national presence is seeking a Mid-Level Tax Associate to support its expanding Tax and Corporate practice groups. This position offers the opportunity to engage in a range of federal tax matters, including transactional tax planning, renewable energy financing, and tax controversy work. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, collaborative, and experienced in advising on complex business transactions. Candidates located in or willing to travel regularly to Portland, OR, are preferred, but attorneys in other major U.S. offices will be considered.
Location: Portland, OR (preferred)
Duties:
- Advise clients on federal tax implications of mergers, acquisitions, and corporate finance transactions
- Structure and support renewable energy financing and tax credit transactions
- Handle a broad range of tax controversy matters, including state and local issues
- Draft and review legal memoranda, transaction documents, and tax opinions
- Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys on complex tax planning strategies
- Conduct legal research and monitor developments in tax law relevant to client industries
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance and mitigate risk
Requirements:
- 3–5 years of experience in federal tax law
- Experience in both transactional tax planning and tax controversy
- Background in renewable energy tax structuring is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects
- Commitment to excellence in client service and collaboration
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active and in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar. Must be eligible to practice in the state of the respective office location.
