NIA CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (October 08, 2021) — The Nevis Island Administration, through the Ministry of Human Resources, is announcing a vacancy in the Ministry of Communications and Labour.
The Ministry is seeking qualified individuals to apply for the position of Chief Labour Officer.
Overview
The successful candidate will oversee the daily operations of the Labour Department, advise employers, employees, and government on employment legislation, and investigate or supervise investigations into labour disputes.
Responsibilities
- Advise the government on industrial relations and labour matters.
- Coordinate with Senior Officers to plan, direct, and control departmental activities.
- Enforce laws related to safety, health, and welfare in workplaces.
- Promote compliance with employment laws and occupational safety standards.
- Assist in improving working conditions and industry best practices.
- Report on occupational safety, health, and welfare law administration.
- Collaborate with the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
- Work with the Permanent Secretary to prepare draft expenditure estimates.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Business Administration, Human Resource Management, or related fields.
- At least five (5) years of managerial or supervisory experience.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, impartiality, dependability, and self-direction.
- Strong research, analytical, documentation, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in management, organization, and computer skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including emotional intelligence.
- Exceptional problem-solving and negotiation abilities.
- Customer-service orientation, both internally and externally.
- Ability to foster positive working relationships.
Salary
The salary range for this role is N33,000 to N40,000 per month.
