We are seeking a dedicated PCT Senior to support our department with high-quality patient care. This position offers four ten-hour shifts, with start times of 6:30 AM or 7:00 AM, providing a structured and predictable schedule.

Patient Care Technician - Senior Responsibilities
Department & Professional Growth:
Supports department improvements and quality initiatives.
Accepts assignments, views challenges as learning opportunities.
Seeks feedback, communicates learning needs, participates in self-review.
Complies with all policies, safety standards, and documentation procedures.
Patient Care & Clinical Support:
Provides patient care, assisting with procedures, ADLs, and therapies.
Reports status changes, supports RN-directed instruction for patients/families.
Performs UPMC core nursing assistant duties (vital signs, specimen collection, Foley care, telemetry monitoring).
Competent in advanced skills per department need (EKG, wound care, arrhythmia monitoring, NG tube management).
May insert/remove IVs, dress wounds, transport cardiac-monitored patients.
Applies/removes restraints per protocol.
Communication & Teamwork:
Establishes effective, respectful communication within the unit and across departments.
Responds to unit-wide needs (call lights, meal trays, patient transport).
Demonstrates cultural awareness, supports workplace safety, and fosters positive relationships.
Operational Efficiency:
Reports equipment malfunctions, performs clerical duties when needed.
May transport medications between departments as necessary.
High school diploma or GED
AND one of the following:
2 years of general healthcare experience & meet Patient Care Technician title requirements
1 year of healthcare experience PLUS enrollment in PT/OT/PA program with at least one clinical rotation completed
1 year of healthcare experience PLUS a bachelor's degree in health sciences
Additional Requirements:
Annual completion of a professional contribution (determined post-hire)
Successful completion of:
Patient Care Technician senior class
eRecord training
Basic arrhythmia course & annual competency
Preferred Qualifications:
Nursing student with at least one clinical rotation completed
EMT, Paramedic, or enrollment in an EMT/Paramedic program
Certifications:
CPR (BLS or equivalent) per AHA standards (within 30 days of hire)
ACLS preferred
Licenses:
Act 33, 34, 31, and 73
