Please note the Patient Registration Specialist role is an onsite role, with multiple openings including day shift, mid shift, and overnight shifts.
Position Summary:
As a Patient Registration Specialist, you will be an integral part of the front-line patient services team. You will greet, register, and provide assistance to patients during their healthcare journey. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates exceptional communication skills, and embodies a commitment to outstanding patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately collect and verify patient demographic, insurance, and billing information.
Register new and returning patients, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
Serve as the first point of contact, providing friendly and professional interactions to create a welcoming environment.
Manage appointment scheduling, cancellations, and patient check-ins/check-outs.
Handle patient inquiries regarding billing, insurance, and general healthcare services.
Maintain and secure confidentiality of patient records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and address any scheduling conflicts or changes.
Requirements
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in healthcare administration or related field is a plus.
Prior experience in patient registration, medical front office, or customer service within the healthcare industry.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and billing processes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., EPIC, Cerner).
Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Familiarity with HIPAA guidelines and confidentiality standards.
