The Role
The Principal Solution Consultant is responsible for delivering high-quality solutions and business outcomes based on existing AspenTech products. Demonstrating deep knowledge of solutions and offerings, capable of contributing to the design of complete solutions across the entire project lifecycle—from pre-sales through design and delivery—the Principal Solution Consultant drives transformational results and aligns with AspenTech's business strategy for our customers.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, with a proven track record in software/technology sales or consulting. We seek candidates comfortable at the intersection of technology and business, with the ability to connect technology to measurable business value. Broad competency in real-time databases/historians, batch historians, workflow management, analytics, infrastructure, and security is expected. Strong communication skills and enjoyment in engaging with customers are critical to this role.
Your Impact
- Develop industry- and application-specific solutions for customers, leading value discovery sessions, assessing needs, and developing tailored solutions.
- Understand prospective customers' critical business issues to present AspenTech's software capabilities as optimal solutions.
- Build customer-specific solutions on the AspenTech platform using available tools.
- Develop recommendations, proposals, and scope of work documents for consulting engagements, identifying dependencies and gaps.
- Consult with customers to advise on relevant solutions and establish a credible value proposition.
- Develop and execute sales campaigns and plans in collaboration with the sales team.
- Identify and qualify business opportunities, key technical challenges, and develop solutions to meet business needs.
- Support pipeline development and sales execution, including account planning, marketing, and strategy development.
What You'll Need
- 8+ years of consulting or pre-sales experience, especially in bulk or specialty chemicals.
- Experience with Aspen InfoPlus.21, Aspen Production Record Manager, Aspen Production Execution Manager, Aspen Cloud Connect, or OSIsoft PI.
- Strong understanding of chemical manufacturing economics and ability to engage with customers about their plants and processes.
- Proven ability to solve customer problems and convert opportunities into deals.
- Balance of business and technical acumen, with the ability to articulate solutions and their value.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to derive insights from data and customer interviews.
- Willingness to travel approximately 50%.
