En2Action is seeking an experienced, mission-driven Program Manager to lead and implement community engagement and outreach efforts as part of multi-agency collaborative projects. The ideal candidate has a proven track record working with community-based organizations, public agencies, and local stakeholders—developing and executing engagement strategies that are grounded, culturally relevant, and outcome-driven.
This role is central to En2Action’s mission to help ensure that community voice shapes initiatives that support thriving, resilient, and equitable communities—whether through environmental health, public infrastructure, food access, or entrepreneurship.
We are a small, fast-moving team. This position requires someone who is highly self-directed, detail-oriented, and confident in their ability to manage key functions independently—from note-taking and documentation to community meeting facilitation and time tracking. We do not have the capacity for extensive onboarding or basic skill training; the successful candidate will come with the tools and experience to contribute meaningfully from day one.
This is not a behind-the-scenes role. It calls for someone who can navigate complex partnerships, learn quickly, communicate effectively, and balance community accountability with operational excellence.
This position is hybrid, with in-person work required four days per week at our San Francisco office (1550 Evans Avenue, Suite 301D). Remote work is allowed one day per week only after successful completion of a 3-month introductory period.
During the introductory period, the position is fully in-office to support onboarding, training, and team integration. After that, a hybrid schedule will be established in alignment with team needs and supervisor approval.
Minimum Qualifications (Required)
5-7 years of experience leading or managing programs with direct community engagement components, especially in collaboration with government agencies or other nonprofits.
Proven ability to design and implement outreach strategies, including creating materials, planning events, recruiting participants, and ensuring follow-up.
Experience facilitating public meetings, community listening sessions, or workshops—virtual, in-person, or hybrid.
Ability to take professional meeting notes and synthesize discussions into summaries, memos, or grant reports—without needing detailed review or rewrites.
Strong time management: capable of tracking time accurately across projects, managing personal deadlines, and submitting monthly invoices or work reports.
Familiarity with reimbursement and stipend disbursement processes for community participants.
Comfortable with tech tools: Google Drive, Zoom, Doodle, Canva or basic design tools, and survey platforms (e.g., Google Forms or SurveyMonkey).
Must be able to work independently, prioritize in a fast-paced environment, and adjust quickly when project scopes shift.
Preferred Qualifications
Lived experience or work experience in historically underserved communities in the Bay Area.
Experience working in cross-functional teams with public agencies, philanthropic funders, and CBOs.
Comfort learning new subject matter quickly (e.g., air quality, CalFresh, urban planning) and translating complex topics into accessible language for community audiences.
Track record of managing documentation and deliverables for grant-funded projects, including logic models, reports, and performance metrics.
Multilingual or bicultural; Spanish, Samoan, or Cantonese preferred.
