A well-established and growing homebuilder in the Southeast is seeking a Purchasing Agent to join their dynamic team in Atlanta, GA. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and organized professional to play a key role in the residential construction process, ensuring materials and subcontractors are procured efficiently and cost-effectively.
We’re looking for someone passionate about the homebuilding industry with strong negotiation skills, a knack for organization, and a desire to work in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct supplier and vendor evaluations to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Pre-qualify and maintain a reliable roster of trade partners and material suppliers.
- Manage and streamline the purchasing process, including issuing purchase orders.
- Oversee and track option costs and sales pricing to align with margin goals.
- Execute lot starts and confirm accuracy of unit costs before release.
- Maintain and update project budgets, ensuring cost accuracy and accountability.
- Request bids, negotiate contracts, and secure the best pricing and terms.
- Maintain detailed procurement records including POs, receipts, and payments.
- Coordinate with construction teams to ensure materials and labor align with build schedules.
- Prepare cost variance reports and direct cost analyses for internal review.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, Supply Chain, or related field – or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in residential construction preferred.
- Familiarity with construction management software (Newstar, BuildPro, etc.) is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and ability to work cross-functionally with field and office teams.
