General Summary:
Administers ionizing radiation therapy to patients in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist. Collaborates with the physicist, dosimetrist, chief therapist, and Radiation Oncologist in the planning and simulation of treatments.
Supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.
Minimum Licensure/Certification Required (if Applicable):
- A.R.R.T. certification
- Current licensure by the state of Maryland to practice radiation therapy
- BLS certified within the probationary period
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required:
- High school diploma and Completion of American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (A.R.R.T.) approved Radiological Technology Program
- At least one year of experience as a therapist in a radiation oncology facility (preferred)
- Experience using linear accelerators with multileaf collimators, CT simulators, and HDR therapy (preferred)
- Basic computer skills including data entry and retrieval
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension)
Working Conditions:
Physical Requirements:
Medium work; exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly; ability to lift patients up to 35 pounds.
Visual Acuity:
Close visual acuity required for data analysis, reading, inspection, and operation of machinery.
Environmental Conditions:
Subject to hazards including moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, working at heights, exposure to heat and chemicals.
Reporting Relationships:
- Supervised by the Chief Therapist
- Accountable to the Director of Radiation Oncology
- Works under the direction of Radiation Oncologist and physicist
- Collaborates with the Registered Nurse
