Surrozen is a biotechnology company pioneering targeted therapeutics that selectively activate the Wnt Pathway for tissue repair and regeneration. Surrozen is focusing its Wnt biology expertise and Wnt signal modulation antibody technologies on its ophthalmology programs including development of new treatment options for retinopathies. The Company recently completed a private placement consisting of two tranches in aggregate up to $175 million in gross proceeds to fund multiple ophthalmology programs through initial Phase 1 safety, tolerability and efficacy studies. The Company expects to file an IND in 2026.
Position Summary
Surrozen is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Associate with a strong biology background to join our Protein Science team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting a variety of protein binding assays using Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) with the Carterra platform and Biolayer Interferometry (BLI) with the Octet system. Additionally, this role will involve performing high throughput protein production using automation instruments to support Surrozen's research programs and technology development efforts. This position offers a unique opportunity for experienced associates to expand their skills in state-of-the-art protein biology techniques and play a significant role in accelerating therapeutic discovery and development.
Key Responsibilities
Design and perform protein binding kinetic experiments using BLI (Octet96) and SPR (Carterra)
Protein purification by the affinity resins, AKTA, and high throughput instruments
Maintain a detailed and well-organized record of experiments in an electronic notebook
Organize protein inventory in an electronic notebook
Strong interpersonal skills and a team player committed to success in a highly dynamic environment
Organize time and plan specifics of project related work with oversight from manager
Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
Salary Range: $78,261-$138,407
Requirements
BS/MS in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or related fields
Minimum three-year relevant experience in industry or academic setting
Hands-on experience of independent development and implementation experience of SPR (Carterra platform) and BLI (Octet96) assays
Strong understanding of protein-protein interactions and binding kinetics
Knowledge of secreted recombinant protein expression and cell signaling pathway
Experience in protein purification using AKTA pure
Experience with automated systems is a plus
Experience with cell experiments is a plus
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to work in fast paced environment and make contributions to multiple projects
Attention to detail, self-motivated
